Hello Chip, I did a little research for you and it looks hopeful. “Even when a person is deaf binaural beats can work. By putting the headphones with the binaural recordings behind the ear, the sound waves travel to the brain through the scull and entrain the brain just the same.” I can not corroborate 100% that this id a fact, however, if you are willing to give it a go I would love to hear how this technique works for you. There is a certain point where the promised benefits of brainwave entrainment become more esoteric, and based on internal, subjective experience of oneself. A few examples would be that listening to brainwave entrainment on a regular basis helps to increase one’s self-awareness, or that it increases mental “sharpness”, or helps to heal emotional trauma and increase your tolerance of stress and negative emotion.
I also believe that the dangers of brainwave entrainment should be further explored as well. There are relatively vague benefits, but it remains unclear as to whether entraining certain frequencies may be detrimental to performance or induce harm. Despite the fact that brainwave entrainment has existed for a long term, it remains an understudied niche in neuroscience.

Meditation enhancement: There are several companies that sell brainwave entrainment sessions specifically designed to enhance meditation. However, advanced meditators commonly experience brainwave synchronization – which the right and left hemispheres display the same frequency brain waves. While there are scientific benefits of meditation, it is unclear as to whether they are enhanced, hindered, or unaffected by adjunctive brainwave entrainment.
