To get a full answer you should really get in touch with the owner of the app, because it does really depend on how their track is constructed and how they intend it to work. I have one 50-minute sleep track which takes you down into delta (http://www.mindamend.com/shop/sleeping-and-dreaming/sleep-induction-isochronic-tones/) and that is designed to just get you to sleep, so you just let play until the end. If you played that track on repeat it might make you jump and wake you up, as the track begins at a higher frequency. I have another 8-hour sleep track which is meant to be played all throughout the night (http://www.mindamend.com/shop/sleeping-and-dreaming/deep-sleep-8-hour-sleep-cycle/). So it does depend on the individual track you are using.
I would like to start off by saying that many bold statements are made about this technology from people who have a self-interest in promoting or rejecting it. We have to face the truth by accepting that people are profiting from brainwave entrainment, and as a result of this other groups of people are being affected in a negative way (from a business point of view). This is a reason why you can find all kinds of claims from someone who has never used or tested the technology.  Unfortunately I have found in my own personal journey of using brainwave entrainment that there are some great people out there making some great products, and there are also some irresponsible and untrustworthy people out there trying to grab a slice of the pie.
my daughter had an EEG and the neurologist said the brain wave activity in the back of her brain was very slow. I want to find out what causes this. She had a brain injury (3 skull fractures that were in the right side of her head and across the front right side. The fractures were closed wound. a concise P.S. I was in a horrible car accident when I was 18 and had to learn to read and write and walk and talk all over again. It was long ago and I’m pretty well over it, but such an injury has lifetime repercussions. The neurological damage sustained causes my left arm to shake uncontrollably anytime I use it in a situation requiring precise coordination. Thanks, this was the kind of article I was looking for. I most have gotten over excited as I read a post about a guy who had major success with 40hz binaural beats. I wanted to make my own experiment, but I see now that I will need to continue my research and gather more background information. Maybe one should have his physiology examined? In order to have a professional opinion on whether or not it will be altered or damaged by use of brainwave entrainment (Maybe you happen to be a very vulnerable individual). Getting trustworthy guidance from an experienced source would also be nice 🙂
Thank you for the info. I must add that the Yoga Nidra state is the state in which a person can be in Delta but fully conscious. I did experience this state accidentally 3x in 2yrs after discovering Swami Rama’s teachings about the state&1 of the techniques for it(only 4 seems to exist & are practiced in monasteries at the time,according to him. He was the yogi who 1st demonstrated the 4 states,fully aware of himself & his surroundings, under lab conditions).
Participants in the included studies were children and adults, either healthy or with conditions such as learning disabilities, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, migraine, stress, anxiety and myofascial pain. Interventions included single, alternating, ascending or descending frequencies of photic or auditory stimulation or audiovisual entrainment selected either by the participant or by the investigator. Nearly half the studies used single sessions and the rest used multiple sessions ranging from nine to 100. Length of session varied from 0.5 seconds to 60 minutes. Frequency of session varied from twice daily to weekly. That all said, we are all different and have our own different limits. As somewhat of a modern mystic, I have studied altered states of consciousness, but due to my monkey mind, I have only been able to experience them to a very minor degree. I have tried so many methods of meditation to little avail. Anyway just listened to Equisync II today for the first time, I was in such a state as to where I didn’t know if I’d fallen asleep or not! I hadn’t but was in such an amazing place.
Also, don’t you think that the inherent hemispheric synchronization using binaural beats might be a positive benefit within itself? While it’s true that the huge majority of us use both sides of our brains most of the time, it’s also true that many of us are a bit polarized to one side or the other in general, or when doing a particular kind of activity or focus. After the illness, I returned to school and found out that I couldn’t understand what the teacher was saying. Or what people were saying to me in general. Then I had difficulty comprehending math (which I was excellent at before). Then my reaction time just CRASHED. In 1956, the famous neuroscientist W. Gray Walter published the results of studying thousands of test subjects using photic stimulation, showing their change in mental and emotional states. Ultimately the only way to know if this is right for you, or if it works for you is to test it. A good audio creator should be willing to let you give their audios a test drive to see if it’s right for you. When you test this type of technology, one that is largely left to subjective experience, I would highly recommend you listen to the same audio daily for a full week or two, taking one day off per week. There are many different experiences that can be had with this type of technology, including not noticing it doing anything at all. Having at least 5-10 experiences with it will give you a reliable way to gage whether or not this is going to work for you.

From a brainwave entrainment effectiveness perspective, it’s my understanding that the response from isochronic tones stimulation starts to diminish over 30Hz and that 40Hz is about the limit for using them. So from what I’ve read on the topic a 100Hz beat wouldn’t work, probably because it’s too fast for the brain to process and synchronise with it.
